Towards Curbing Drug Abuse DFWA Adopts Logo for Abuja Mega Million March

DFWA has finally emerged with a logo for the 2022 Mega Million March against Drug Abuse in Abuja. While working towards a relentless anti-drug event and to consolidate on the success achieved in various campaigns, DFWA is strategizing to organize a mega million march against drug abuse for Africa hosting in FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. The team came up with a “No to drugs’ ‘ logo During their leadership meeting on 19th July 2022 after much deliberations and review of several designs. Engr. Chinagorum Nkaru, DFWA president said that the logo which explained the dangers of illicit drug usage will sensitize youths to abstain from drug abuse and live more productive lives. The Africa-wide campaign which will be hosting with Abuja is scheduled for October 13, 2022.

DFWA Introduces “Truth About Drugs” at Igbo Festival

Drug Free World Africa has showcased “Truth About Drugs “on Igbo Festival of Arts and Culture (IFAC) Day, 16th July 20-22 at Jubilee Park Enfield, London. Engr. Chinagorum Nkaru, the president of DFWA who hosted the program said that “Truth About Drugs” holds no barrier and should be shared anywhere, anytime and anyplace to serve as a multi-viral channel to reach communities across the globe. She further stated that the mission of spreading “Truth About Drugs” is to raise a generation who will remain free from the ravages of drug abuse. Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises, Members of DFWA shared 1,500 “truth About Drugs” booklets in the Igbo festival event with over 10,500 participants, 93 ethnic groups of Igboland and 35 vendors. The Team Energy keeps attracting like minds as youths engage and share their experiences in a fight against drug abuse. Diverse groups interacted on “Truth About Drugs” and Wider audience were captured.

Addicts Renounce Drugs, Join DFWA Kaduna Team

DFWA Kaduna state team has added two new members among the twenty people who had given up on drug misuse in Kaduna state. The Kaduna state representative shared photos of their sensitization walk against drug abuse held on the 28 of august 2021 with drug addicts who renounced drugs and joined the walk. On continuous support and follow-up, the team were happy to announce that two new members joined their team who were among the 20 persons that renounced drugs on the day of their city march against drug abuse and are presently doing well. The drug addicts have volunteered to join the fight against drug abuse in order to liberate others from the same dilemma of drug misuse. DFWA Kaduna state team are highly motivated to continuous sensitization to subdue drug Abuse and Illicit Substance in Kaduna.

POP: DFWA Congratulates NSCDC

DFWA Nasarawa state has congratulated the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on their passing out parade. The DFWA congratulatory message is contained in a statement by Nasarawa Staterepresentative Mr. Christopher Francis on 7 July 2022 at Lafia square, Nasarawa state. He spoke on the benefit of training Nigerian Security Defense Corps in reducing unemployment in the state and charged them to always stand against drug abuse in order to remain focused and serve in their best capacity. He further stated that his presence was to congratulate them and never relent in sensitizing youths on the dangers of hard drugs. Members of NSCDS expressed delight at the sensitization and promised to protect people by tackling illicit drug supply and abuse.

DFWA hails Drogach for “No to Drug Abuse” campaign in Czech Republic

Drug free world Africa has praised the Drogach team for a good campaign against drug abuse in Czech Republic and urged them to keep up the good work. The Drogach Czech Republic team work was presented as a benchmark to the DFWA house on 6th of July 2022 by Mr. Emmanruel Ngoka a prime member of DFWA who lives in Czech Republic and works with the Drogach team. Speaking during sensitizating members, Mr. Ngoka shared an unimaginable achievement of the Drogach team as a point of encouragement and motivation for the DFWA Leaders, members and partners to keep up the good work in promoting a drug free society. “Czech Republic, is a country with a very low population but high rate of drug abuse and campaigns like this will go a long way to keep youths informed. “As much as we are Drug Free World Africa, we also believe that drug abuse is a global issue and one good way to tackle it is to do what we can wherever we find ourselves”, he said. .

DFWA talks dangers of Drug Abuse on ABS

DFWA has carried out a sensitization program tackling the dangers of drug abuse and its adverse consequences in Anambra State. The sensitization which took place on 6th of July at Anambra Broadcasting Service television had Anambra South zonal coordinator, Mrs. Akudo Loretta representing DFWA. During the morning discussion, Mrs Akudo sighted her experiences through the campaign of 26th June International day against drug abuse held at Nri city town in Anaocha LGA. Of Anambra state. She said that “1/3 of youths who attended the June 26 event shared the devastating effect of drug abuse in their lives. Their stories had it that the worst state of drug abuse is never to recognize help until it wrecks one’s life.” Mrs. Akudo therefore pointed out that one of the best ways of stemming more youths from foraying into the sad venture of drug abuse is “through sensitization, adding that in order to accomplish the DFWA objectives, youths must avoid drug abuse. She further stated that regular interaction with people who are willing to campaign against drug abuse is also a key to achieving the goal of a drug free society.

DFWA Ends international day against Drug Abuse with the message “walk away from drug abuse”

DFWA ends the 2022 international day against drug abuse encouraging all and sundry to walk away from drugs and intake of other harmful substances. The team wrapping the year’s annual event created aggressive awareness in the community, society and the world allover to make sure the cry for a drug-free world is heard. Engr. Chinagororm Nkaru urged all the team members to stand firm in the fight against drug abuse and continue to spread the gospel. We will leave no stone unturn until drug abuse fall in our community.

DFWA Ghana Hosts Drug Free Sports International Day in schools

The Presbyterian Boys Secondary School felt the presence of DFWA Ghana as a message of “Yes to Sports No to drugs” was sent to the sports team.  The 27th of June celebration is a means of creating awareness in commemoration of the international drug-free day. The team noted to the students that some athletes make use of drugs to enhance their skills and do well in sports which is not a welcome development and a bad influence on their skills. DFWA Ghana Country Rep Mr. Johnson Kportufe spoke to the students about the dangers of drugs in sports and encouraged them to work hard to enhance their skills. DFWA Ghana also visited Tema Secondary School educating students on sports benefits but not drugs. The students of Tema secondary school were properly lectured on the dangers of drug abuse and students were allowed to ask questions concerning the subject matter. The students of Achimota Secondary school were not left out in the awareness exercise as the students were educated on Free sport and no to drugs. Mr. Johnson Kportufe who is the state rep of DFWA Ghana speaking to the students told them that he stands for “no to drugs yes to sports” and discouraged the students from drug abuse.

`No to Drug Abuse` Campaign intensifies in Imo in commemoration of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Substance Trafficking

DFWA Imo state chapter on the 26tth June 2022 campaigned around the state in commemoration of the international drug-free day. DFWA Project Facilitator Dr. Lina Okereke who doubles as the SA Health Imo State took her team on a visit to schools in the state to celebrate the day. The No to Drug Abuse walk started around Government House Owerri to other venues marking the International Day against Drug Abuse. One of the schools visited during the walk was Ikenegbu girls’ secondary school, the school felt the presence of the team as lectures on drugs and the importance of drug abstinence were taught to the students. Dr. Lina pointed out the consequences of drug abuse to the students and made them understand that saying No to peer pressure to indulge in drugs is the best decision. “You own your future in your hands, you don`t allow people to decide your future for you, it is better to turn down a friend’s urge to indulge in drugs than accept and jeopardize your future. “We are ladies and are meant to live a life worthy of emulation for the sake of the generations that will come through us, remember what you do today, has a way of affecting the future,” she said, Dr. Lina Okereke explained and handed over Teaching Aids, Manuals, Materials, and Drug leaflets from Drug-Free World Africa to the Principal of the school for the sustainability of the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA). It was an eventful outing for the team and a memorable day for the students of the DFWA visited.

DFWA Borno State Marks International Day against Drug Abuse with Other Stakeholders

DFWA Borno State Chapter has joined other agencies to mark the June 26th International day against drug abuse and illicit substance trafficking in Maiduguri the capital city of Borno State. DFWA Borno in collaboration with other agencies such as the Nigeria drug law enforcement agency (NDLEA) took the drug-free world message to residents of the state. The event had in attendance school children, government officials, paramilitary operatives, and other residents of the state. The state rep of DFWA spoke to the participants on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to keep on hammering on this issue. He stated that young people are been indulged in the illicit use of drugs with the notion that it is nothing and fun to do. According to him, some young lives are lost due to the use of harmful drug substances, as a result of peer pressure and other factors.  He further stated that some families have no idea what their children do outside their homes and hence the need for drug abuse awareness among the young and old. The event was brought to a close with a question-and-answer section.
