“Truth About Drugs” Tour in 27 Local Gov. of Imo State

  The SA Health Imo State Hon Dr Lina Okereke set on tour to subdue drug abuse in 27 Local Gov of Imo State “the Truth About Drugs”. On 26/10/2021 Hon Dr Lina Okereke, Special Adviser on Health Imo State sensitized 27 local government of Imo State on truth about drug abuse. She Met with 27 LGA IMC chairmen in Imo State during their ALGON meeting to talk to them on “TRUTH ABOUT DRUGS” and the deleterious effect on health and insecurity in the community. She stated that combining Public Health Campaign and Truth About Drug Abuse under DRUG FREE WORLD AFRICA strategic campaign will lead to a serious decrease in consumption of illicit substances and drugs addition in our youths thereby directly and indirectly reducing insecurity and other anti-social crime in the community. PREVENTION OF INITIATIONS OF OUR YOUTHS INTO DRUG ABUSE IS THE KEY, SHE SAID. “CATCH THEM YOUNG “BEFORE DRUGS DO” IS OUR MANDATE. A sustainable early intervention program is needed to prevent initiation of our youths into drug abuse through peer group pressure and the ignorant of youthful exuberant is what we need. She charged the Local Gov. Chairmen and their Chiefs to motivate the youths into engaging in different community activities and to discourage street youth gang. She said its identified that youth street gathering forms the pressure groups that coax youths into indecent activities.  They initiate them by prompting them to grow up through encouraging them to inhale marijuana once or twice which is known as gateway drugs. She said with the platform DFWA has showcased to combat drug abuse is her drive to reach them in rural areas to inspire them to rise up and join the war on drugs to win our youths and save them from further destruction. SA Health introduced different DFWA projects of street drug- free walk, School- School campaign, churches and talking drug therapy, regularly on health damage from Drug Abuse.  Pulling forces together from all 27 Local Gov. will definitely combat and zero drug abuse in Imo State Community. Drug Free World Africa Kaduna State Chapter Drug Free Walk

Just-In: Drug Free World Africa Kaduna State Chapter Drug Free Walk Kaduna Chapter of Drug Free World Africa, carried out No To Drug Abuse Walk on 28-08-2021, 10am from Sabon Tasha Bridge to Total Filling Station Sabon Tasha. It was a Drug Free Walk 👣, Tagged: *Say No to Drugs. The Awareness campaign had about 45 Team members of DFWA, about 25 drug users and other members of the public who successfully participated in the Drug Free Walk. In company with us was the Director General Kaduna Bureau of Substance Abuse, Prevention and Treatment (KBSAPT), Dr. Joseph Maigari (08028152865) and the Nigeria Police. Security The Nigeria Police were present from take off to finish point of the campaign to provide security for the Team. -As expected, everything went out well and there was no incidence of security breach throughout the period of the walk. Media The Nigerian Television Authority , Kaduna covered and aired the Drug Free Campaign in her 7pm, 12midnight news of 29th August 2021 and 6am news of 30th August, 2021. With the news clip available with us. The Leadership Newspapers, a National News media also covered and published a news item in the publication of 31st August, 2021, on page 18. The clips of pictures and videos were also circulated on social media platforms for Onward awareness. Gains.   We had about 25 drug users that were drawn from a drug den on the path of the Walk. Their leader and others were excited to hear about DFWA and the information about drugs and some gave live testimonies to the effect of the campaign. Between 16th-22nd October about 5 drug users contacted DFWA on guide and support towards given up drug abuse. They wedre well educated, given necesarry support and sign posted. In over all DFWA Kaduna State Chapter distributed 1850 “Truth about drugs” education materials, drug free walked with about 650 persons and recorded 30 drug users engaged towards rehabilitation.

She single-handedly awarded free scholarships to over 700 pupils in Adadama ward of Abi local government area in Cross River State, conducted free medical outreaches to internally displaced persons/ rural dwellers in over 50 remote communities, empowered many youths to turn a new live. Drug Free World Africa Triggered Health Sensitization Program

The good health campaign led by the Special Adviser on Health, Hon.Dr.Lina Okereke, coordinator Drug Free World Africa Imo State Project which is totally free dwells on awareness of several health issues and adverse effect of self-medication which could unveil as drug abuse. She stressed on the importance of seeking for doctors’ advice and prescription for any drug intake. She prompted parents to develop good drug management approach at home to reduce exposing children to reckless drugs interaction from early stage of life. She also charged parents to be proactive in observing early signs of changes in attitude and behaviour in their children to enable early intervention in children’s drug abuse which is key to disengage them from drug addiction. In addition, a voluntary screening of Hepatitis B, Malaria parasites, Cancer screening, Diabetes, HIV 1 &11 and Treatment Prescriptions was given to all participants. The entire community were extremely happy and expressed surprised that the programme was first of its kind ever witnessed in their life time in the community. Hon Dr Lina told Nkwere community that this project triggered by Drug Free World Africa under the 3R gospel of the Imo state Governor, Dist.Sen.Hope Uzodinma who was equally on fire this summer especially on the Health of the entire Imo Women and continuing to the communities yet unreached. Free Medical No to Drug Abuse Outreach to Ezihe Community Women

  The Free medical outreach on good health and drug abuse campaign reached to EZIHE COMMUNITY. Ezihe Community Women experienced the Free Medical and No to Drug Abuse campaign during their August meeting. The women said they were so happy to receive SA Health Imo State, Hon. Dr Lina Okereke and her free medical package which they heard of as it keeps moving round the community and hope that it reaches them which today happens to be their day. They said that seeing is believing as they have never been remembered by any administration, here today under Gov. Hope Uzodinma a special health care pack is extended to them by God’s sent Leader in the person of Hon Dr Lina Okereke.   In addition to health no to drug abuse talk, a voluntary screening of Hepatitis B, Malaria parasites, Cancer screening, Diabetes, HIV 1 &11 and Treatment Prescriptions was given to all participants. The entire community were extremely happy and expressed surprised that the programme was first of its kind ever witnessed in their life time in the community. DRUG FREE WORLD AFRICA TRIGGERED HEALTH SENSITIZATION PROGRAM Drug Free World Africa triggered the 3R gospel of the Imo state Governor,Dist.Sen.Hope Uzodinma who was equally on fire this summer especially on the Health of the entire Imo Women and continuing to the communities yet unreached. It is one of the cardinal programmes of the peoples Governor to ensure healthy Health for ALL Imo Women. Liberia Drug Must Fall School Campaign

Dolo’s Town public, A.M.E Zion University and St. Thomas junior and high School Liberia Youths, students, and teachers engaged on interactive program on drug abused in schools. The drugs substance abused and addiction civic education awareness in school sensitise youths towards dangers of drug abuse and help to reduce or prevent the youthful population from drugs addiction and substance abused.
