Entrepreneurship class with a message of No To Drug Abuse held in Kano State

The 17th of June 2022 was a memorable day for students of Rumfa College BUK Road Kano as DFWA brought them an entrepreneurship class iced with a drug-free world campaign. The event which was titled “Students Sensitization Against Drugs abuse and Entrepreneurship” is a DFWA initiative in collaboration with the School Old Boys Class of 82. The state rep encouraged entrepreneurs to keep away from drug abuse as a secret to success in business and other life matters. The need for every individual to learn a skill and be a master in it was discussed by the team and the students were made to note that no drug addict can be successful in business. They were made to understand the dangers of drugs on entrepreneurs and the need to say No to drugs by every individual who wishes to flourish in entrepreneurship. Drug addiction can snatch live away at the peak of success said Representative of DFWA Kano, Nura Sani. The event was wrapped with a question-and-answer section and an appreciation speech from one of the students who showed gratitude to the organizers of the event and prayed they remain blessed.

DFWA celebrates Democratic day geared toward “a drug free world” in Imo

DFWA Imo state chapter Empowers Democratic Day geared towards a `drug-free` community with a “No to Drug Abuse Campaign” in the state. The democratic day is celebrated all over the Nation on June 12, DFWA commemorating the event in the state has called for a drug-free state. SA Health Imo State Hon. Dr. Lina Okereke (DFWA project facilitator) during the event called on the leaders of the state and the Nation at large to play their role in the fight against drug abuse. Hon. Dr. Lina Okereke stated that lack of quality education and provision of social amenities among others, leads children to the use of illicit drugs as a means to forget their troubles. She stated that the productivity of any nation, state, or organization depends solely on the productiveness of the children/youths in it.   “I`m Urging the Leaders to pay attention to school to provide all basic amenities and other provisions necessary for teachers to give adequate education to school’s pupils. This will enable students to learn in a conducive environment and acquire good education to be productive and not to engage in drug abuse” “Sometimes children are frustrated and led into the use of drugs as a result of inhabiting in an unconducive environment void of life privileges,” she said, Hon. Dr. Lina Okereke who also doubles up as the SA Health Imo State added that productive children are a productive economy. She urged the government and other well-meaningful Nigerians to invest in the good future of the children and prevent them from getting to do drugs.

DFWA storms Myrrh School Kaduna with `Catch them young` Before Drugs Do” campaign

 Drug Free world Africa understanding the need to sensitize the younger generation in the fight against drug abuse launched the `catch them young` Before Drugs DO” campaign in Kaduna. The campaign headed by Rev. Lazarus Terna the state rep was held at Myrrh Schools on 1st June 2022 in where the SS1 and SS2 students were exposed to the dangers of drug abuse.  DFWA having the interest and healthy living of every child at heart have taken measures to reach children of all classes and ages. The team identified the treasure in Myrrh School children and went all their way to educate them to treasure their lives, their future, and their loved ones and not to get tangled with drug abuse which is a Destiny and life destroyer. During the event, children were allowed to ask questions and share their experiences using drugs with the team and other kids for proper guidance, explanation, and correction.  Rev. Lazarus Terna speaking to the kids told them they needed guidance from their parents, teachers, and elders to be able to overcome the evil of the times, therefore should always listen to their advice. “Children need to be guided, to avert and overcome the evil of the world, pious and prudent parents must check the naughty passions of their children in any way that they have in their power, and reposition them into decent and proper behaviour and into what is called good habits, Under good parents and teachers’ guardian’s children will ride and fly in golden colours free from drug menace,” he said It was a memorable day for the kids in Myrrh schools Kaduna as they learned what wouldn`t ordinarily be taught in the classroom about drugs, their abuse, and their dangers.

DFWA marks Tobacco Day with `no to smoke` crusade

Drug Free World Africa has joined the rest of the world to commemorate World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) which is observed around the world every year on 31 May.  According to DFWA the yearly celebration informs the public about the dangers of using tobacco and the business practices of tobacco companies.  The president of DFWA, Engr, Chinagorum Nkaru has stated what is expected of every individual in the fight against the use of tobacco, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations. “Tobacco and Drug which is a lesser evil? Tobacco tackles the heart and drugs blurred the mind, both equal devils, drop the habit, say no to smoking and drug abuse” she said,  She also explained that The Member States of the WHO created World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes.  The day is further intended to draw attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and to negative health effects which currently lead to more than 8 million deaths each year worldwide. She stated that according to WHO 1.2 million deaths are recorded yearly as a result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. And enjoined all hands to be on deck to see to the eradication of tobacco and pleaded with individuals all over the world to wage war against tobacco just like they are doing against drug abuse.

DFWA sent Drug Free messages to children as they celebrate their day

Children’s day! A special day to recognize, honor, celebrate, and appreciate children who are God’s gift. The celebration is held on different days in several countries. In Nigeria, it is celebrated on the 27th of May, annually. Drug Free World Africa has sent drug-free messages to commemorate children on their special day. The president of DFWA Engr. Chinagorum Nkaru, said children are the leaders of tomorrow and a special gift to us and must be treated as such. “Children are our tomorrow; they deserve a drug-free community. teach, educate no to drug abuse. Children are said to be gifts from God. It doesn’t matter the sex and physical state or condition of the child. These children are the future of many generations treat them as such” Engr. Nkaru explained to the children what drugs are and made emphasis on what drug abuse is all about and its dangers to their bodies when taken. She pleaded with parents to always teach their kids what drugs are, their functions, and drugs that are harmful or illegal to take. “Parents should try to teach and explain what drugs are, their functions, and which drugs are harmful or illegal to their children. They should Stick to the facts and don’t make drugs sound glamorous or fun, and don’t over exaggerate the harms. Always consider what is age-appropriate information for your child”, she said, She also advised parents to take care of their teens and pay attention to them to know their whereabouts and the kind of friends they follow. “Know your teen’s activities, Pay attention to your teen’s whereabouts, Establish rules and consequences, Know your teen’s friends, Keep track of prescription drugs, Provide support, Set a good example for your children” she stated, Children are our tomorrow; they deserve a drug-free community. teach, educate them and teach them to say no to drug abuse.  May you grow up to be drug-free youths, best wishes from all of us at Drug Free World Africa.

DFWA Kano organizes a Multi-School Sensitization in the Fight Against Drug Abuse

DFWA Kano has visited Dala Local Government on a Multi-School Sensitization against Drug Abuse and illicit drug usage. The sensitization took place on the 16th of May 2022 had the whole team in attendance headed by Mr. Nura Sani who is the representative of DFWA Kano state. Embarking on the multi-school sensitization exercise against drug abuse and the illegal use of harmful substances the team stated that such exercise is needed now more than ever. Mr. Nura Sani talked to the students on the irredeemable dangers of drug abuse to the individual and society at large.  “It is no longer an assumption that drugs and other forms of criminal activities have a symbiotic relationship. As drug abuse increases, crime also increases with the need to support the very expensive drug habit. The instant alteration of the mind, which occurs at the intake of any hard drug, leaves the individual ready to do and undo.” He also posited that the sensitization was as an urgent need to enlighten the younger generation on the wrongs of drug abuse.  “This is why we have deemed it fit to embark on such sensitization now rather than later, in the bid to speak to them and make them see the dangers of drug abuse at a tender age. Because if we don’t teach them, the bad ones will get to them before us and the society keeps been what it shouldn’t be”  “I plead with all well-meaning sons of the soil to help in the fight against drug abuse in our state in the best way they can to achieve this said goal,” he said,  The event had 18 community schools in attendance and the total number of participants was over 700 including community leaders, security members, and other residents in the area. The team shared 1,350 Drugs free booklets with all participants and individual community schools who were in attendance.

DFWA reviews plans to make MMM- ADA successful

The world marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking every 26th of June and DFWA being a crusader for a drug-free world has cued into the exercise.  Commemorating to this day, Drug Free World Africa (DFWA) is initiating a mega man million march in Abuja against drug abuse.  The mega-million-man march is a means for the organization to fulfill its mission and vision statement and help put an end to the illicit use of harmful substances.  Speaking to other team members on the progress of the committee, to make the day a success, the chairman of the committee Mr. Emmanuel Ngoka in a zoom meeting held on May 24th hinted at plans for the event.  Mr. Emmanuel Ngoka made it known that there will be an Abuja project, online seminars, and online discussions to mark the event.  He also stated the need for a courtesy visit to key government officials, major sponsors, corporate logos, etc. The presence of the president, vice president, NDLEA boss, and a host of other ministers are proposed to be in attendance to mark the event.  June 26 every year is a day set aside by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to raise awareness worldwide against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.  Mr. Emmanuel Ngoka speaking to the team had this to say,  “To reach a wider audience and in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, we are making plans to hold ‘MMMM’ on the 26th of June, 2022, for the enlightenment and sensitization of the general public on the dangers of drug abuse “  He lamented that drug abuse and its consequences had assumed a pandemic proportion on individuals and society at large.  Admonishing all team members to avail themselves of the opportunity to be part of this great initiative will yield better results.

DFWA Oyo sensitizes students on dangers of drug abuse

DFWA Oyo state chapter joins the campaign against drug abuse and the war against illicit use of harmful substances. This was made evident as the team led the campaign against drug abuse to schools in the state. The campaign took place on the 4th of May 2022 as team members came out in their numbers to see the success of the outreach which was held in Ibarapa Central School, Oyo State, Nigeria. Speaking to newsmen, the deputy representative of DFWA Oyo State Chapter, BAAKI ADEWALE stated that the campaign was prompted by the bid to catch the younger generations.  “campaign against drugs and the bid to catch them young is a must in every state, nation, and the world at large. The Oyo state chapter of DFWA has taken today to visit schools and spread the gospel of a society void of drug abuse or illicit use of drugs to these children, if we don’t catch them young, then when can we?” drugs will do, he said The sensitization on the campaign on the dangers of drug abuse had different schools around the state in attendance as the students were delighted to have such a gathering. Effects of drugs were dramatized by the presenter and students through the drama understood the dangers of drug abuse and vowed never to take or do drugs. Students who were in attendance asked questions concerning the subject matter and the event was brought to a wrap with Students sharing their experiences and declaring war against drug abuse.

DFWA Support Victims Affected by Ukraine War

While DFWA is known for fighting drug abuse in society, the organization has taken a further step to help resettle victims of the war in Ukraine.  According to the president of the organization Engr. Chinagorum Nkaru, the effort to resettle victims of the war in Ukraine will help motivate the beneficiaries to live the life they have always wanted.  DFWA focused on two siblings who were keeping safe in the Hungarian capital Budapest while waiting for a British Visa.  The two youths according to Engr. Nkaru has supported many of their friends to settle in different countries but had difficulties in getting a British visa.  “DFWA remembers and works with youths anywhere they are to cheer them up and give them hope to keep positive and never take drugs as an alternative to their problems” Engr, C. Nkaru stated that the siblings were taken to gig parties to help them have fun and think positive for a better future as DFWA was up to help them. “They were taken to gig parties, City sightseeing, shopping, and boat cruise, which they enjoyed and cherished every single moment. They promised never to think of drugs as an alternative” “They had a moment to think and live without problems. It was an unended joy of expression, as every little help to keep soul and body together helps save a life. DFWA has vowed to continually support them to pursue their visa through different embassies till they get resettled.

DFWA commemorates Muslims on EID-EL-FITR

DFWA commemorates Muslim Faithful all over the world on the occasion of their EID-EL-FITR celebration with a message of drug abstinence.  The end of the fast period was utilized by DFWA to send a drug-free world message and educate Muslims on drug abuse and its dangers to human health.  The team emphasized that EID-EL-FITR is a time to deal with unwillingness and see to the eradication of illegal use of drugs.  According to Engr. Chinagorum, it is important to educate the young’s on “Truth About Drugs” to make them enjoy peace from Allah. She urged everyone to say no to drug abuse because it does more harm than good to any individual involved and kills eventually.  DFWA Team urged youths and others involved in drug-related crimes to remember the fast and essence of EID-EL-FITR and say no to drug abuse.  The team prayed that this special day brings peace, and happiness to all Muslim faithful and everyone at large, Wishing them Allah’s peace and joy in their lives as they mark this occasion.
